Kisumu Senator Anyang Nyong’o has dismissed claims that ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwamba has not been given enough powers.
The party’s former secretary general termed Mr Ababu’s claims as false, saying the powers he enjoyed when he served the Orange party were transferred to him.
“Mr Ababu’s claim that I have never handed over to him as Secretary General is disingenuous and false. Ever since he took over as the ODM SG, we have had an “open door” policy for consultation whenever necessary,” said Prof Nyong’o.
The senator said the Budalang’i MP had never shared his frustrations with him nor brought to his attention any challenges faced.
“I am tempted to conclude that he is on some fishing expedition to find fault within the party and its leadership,” added Nyong’oOver the weekend, Ababu launched attacks on unspecified officials of the party whom he claimed were intimidating and monitoring him at all times.
“You wanted a person who, when he speaks, people know it is the voice of the secretary general. Then the following day some subordinate officials come out to challenge me,” he said.
ODM Vice Chairman Paul Otuoma (Funyula) indicated he will resign from his position in the party.
“Whenever we speak with people, we are told we have been bought, yet the same people meet those they don’t want us to meet at night,” Ababu had said
