Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba
Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba has denied claims made by Deputy President William Ruto that he will join the ruling Jubilee coalition. Mr Namwamba also denied allegations that he had been paid to join the Jubilee party.“I am not joining Jubilee. I have no time for them,” said Mr Namwamba who recently resigned from his position as the Orange Democratic Movement secretary-general. “I am priceless. I cannot be bought. That is hogwash and a tired narrative aimed at maligning my name and the great Mulembe nation. This is always what rivals say when we have a different opinion from theirs,” he told journalists at his Lwecheche beach home in Budalang’i.Speaking in Kericho on Friday, Mr Ruto claimed credit for the ongoing rebellion in ODM and hinted that Mr Namwamba was heading to the Jubilee coalition. The DP said his aggressive campaign to seduce the populous western region that backed Mr Odinga in the last election had started bearing fruit.
So far, he has made several trips to western Kenya where he has been asking residents to abandon the ODM party. He also hosted a group of Luhyia politicians and grassroots leaders at his Sugoi home in December.”You have seen that Mr Namwamba has already shattered the Orange party in western. To which party do you think he is headed?”Speaking last week, Mr Namwamba had ruled out the possibility of joining Jubilee and indicated that he would team up with like-minded politicians to form a third force.“I am not going to Jubilee. Jubilee is not even an option. Jubilee is not on the table,” he said days after leading 11 ODM politicians to express dissatisfaction with the Raila Odinga-led party.
