David Amaswache, Amani chairman in Lugari, led other party officials as they defected to ODM, while MCAs from UDF also defected to Raila’s party.
This took place at Shiembekho cultural centre, one of the venues Raila was addressing residents.
Raila called for unity and accused Jubilee of dividing Kenyans along tribal lines.
“Those trying to divide Luhyas, Kisiis, among other tribes are stupid and are not fit to lead this Country. Time to send them home is now,” he said.Among those Raila received were UDF MCAs Linston Abundo and Sophy Ambetsa.
Raila addressed his last rally at Musanda in Mumias West Constituency before flying to Nairobi.
He was accompanied by Nairobi ODM chairman George Aladwa, Nyando MP Fred Outa, UoN student leader Babu Owino and nominated Senator Daizy Kanaiza, among others.
He bashed Mumias East MP Ben Washiali and former ODM youth leader Rashid Mohammed for allegedly being funded by Jubilee to disrupt his last rallies in Mumias.
Raila accused the duo of spreading propaganda about Sh300 million he allegedly owes Mumias Sugar company.
Aladwa said they would meet face-to-face with Mohammed, while other speakers accused the ODM rebels of hoodwinking Jubilee to get money.
ODM youth confiscated petrol bombs, pangas, rungus and other crude weapons the protectors had planned to use to disrupt Raila’s rallies, as police dispersed the protesting youth. When contacted for comment, Washiali and Mohammed denied planning the chaos.
Washiali termed the allegations as ‘propaganda’, while Mohammed told Raila to ‘clean his house’.
The former youth leader said those demonstrating ahead of Raila’s rally were farmers.
